It happened on April 8, 2022, the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration Oleh Buriak said that russians had kidnapped his 16-year-old son at a checkpoint in Vasylivka.
The young man was driving in a car that was moving as part of an evacuation convoy from Melitopol to Zaporizhzhia. According to eyewitnesses, the car was kept at the checkpoint for three hours, and then everyone, except for the guy, was released.
Oleh Buriak confirmed that the invaders knew that the detained son of a Ukrainian civil servant.
«Where is my son now, I don’t know. I appeal to the European community, to the whole of humanity – help me. Let the whole world know that russians are kidnapping children here in the country».
