The journalists found out that Chingiz Atantaev, 37, is on the screenshot of the surveillance cameras from Bucha. He also appeared in The New York Times investigation into the murder of eight Ukrainians. This is indicated by facial recognition services and the details of his biography collected by journalists.
Atantaev is a native of Magadan, but has been living in Pskov for many years. The 104th and 234th air assault regiments (military unit No. 32515 and military unit No. 74268, respectively) are deployed there, which, according to The New York Times, were engaged in cleaning up Bucha.
